And you may need the knowledge of how to choose the best table saw fence.

Step 1

When you are going to build anything, the most important thing is to design a plan. If you have a perfect plan design, making the stuff will become very easy. The procedure will also require precise measurements. Determine what you are going to do with the fence. You will also need to measure your table accurately.

Make sure that the blade is perpendicular to the edges of the table. To do it properly, you can put a level against the blade. The edges of the table should be of the same length. Although this is not very important, it will later make the job easier of you.

Before getting started, bolt an angle to the side of your table. It will work as a support. Pay attention to the back of your table saw. Bolt another angle of the same length. To make sure that the router table has enough support, bolt another angle to the inside of the table. Keep the router table panel in between the support and the iron angle on the table top. The iron angle should be clamped in the right position. Then you need to drill a few bolt holes.

Step 2

Now you will need to work on the table front. Drill some 5/16 inch holes there. To secure the proper angle, drill some ¼ inch holes and make sure that two types of holes are countersunk. Using flat head bolts is a good idea because these bolts serve the purpose better.

To make sure that you can fasten a glider tightly, drill a hole large enough for a large screw. Then take a look at the side of the table and drill 3 holes. There should be a hole at each end and one on the center. Make sure that the holes are at least ¼ inch.

Step 3

Now you need to use the materials for welding. After welding the T-square together, place a glide. To make a lock, you can use your left over materials. To do the job better and make sure that the fence is secured in place, you can buy a pneumatic clamp. If you do not secure a fence correctly, you will face some problems, and it may even lead to danger. You can rely on a pneumatic clamp, and they are not expensive.

You can use a table saw in a variety of applications. You can create even cuts and guide the lumber easily if you have a table saw fence. You do not have any difficulty moving easily and you do not need to compromise cuts. You can specially design your table saw fence for your particular project. You can find pre-made fences at most hardware stores. But if you need to create your own fence, you must have a well-designed plan.

Things to consider

Keep in mind that it may be tricky to align the piece of wood you clamp. Before you assemble the pieces of the fence, make sure that you have long triangular plywood. The piece which is rectangular will create some space between the other layers of plywood.

This design is simple but it is effective and pretty strong. Before you start building a table saw fence, try a few test cuts. You will need to use only a few tools to do the job. After your first cut, take the first piece and see if the edges of the piece are smooth.

For the bottom of the table saw fence, you can consider using a select pine. You can purchase the T-track from Amazon. After you have measured a table saw, cut the T-track down shorter than the front of the table saw. Then get ready to route in the track.

If you don’t have a router, don’t worry. You don’t have to route in this track. Just mount it to the front. If your floor is not level, use weight to help stabilize the table. You may need to try more than once to get to the exact depth that you need. If you use a trim router, it will help you get a straight cut.

To make sure that you are on the right track, check the T-track. If your trim is made of PVC, it will be smooth on one side and the other side will have texture. It is a good idea to turn the texture to the inside. Keep the pieces on a flat surface and then mark all the screw holes. When you will see the fence from a distance, it will look clean and consistent.

Make sure that the screw does not interfere with the piece that you are working on. When one side is done, do the same thing on the opposite side.  The fence will have a top but you may need a middle support. It will make sure that you don’t have any flexing.

To make these cuts, you can use a hand saw or a circular saw. To hold the small pieces, use only one screw in the middle.

Make just two holes that slide in the track because it should slide well and look good. If everything looks good, you can add wood glue to clamp it down and install screws. To wipe off the wood glue, take a wet rag or a piece of wet paper.

It’s a good idea to test your blade even if it looks good. Make sure that the blade is straight. Then take the table saw fence and press it up against the blade and check for squaring.

To make sure that the fence is straight, always check for measurements and check between the blades. If the fence is straight, add wood glue and lock it into place.

The PVC trims are nice and you will find them easy to use. If you have not done it before, you will need some time to clamp the fence down and install the screws along the top.

You will need some sanding because the side of the trim is not as smooth as the face of the trim. You can add a wax to the table saw to reduce any friction. To add or remove the table saw fence, just slide it in and slide it back out. If your blade is parallel to the fence, that’s good.

Once the fence is locked in place, it will not move. When the build is done, run some test cuts.
